About Us
The Green Apple is a small, independent fitness centre with a focus on wellness. The primary objective is to provide a place where “non-gym” people can exercise in a fun, safe, and non-threatening environment.
The Green Apple opened it’s doors in 1978 and has developed into a club that has programmes for all age groups – from seniors to people as young as 10. Our size allows the Centre to have a strong family feeling where laughter and happy voices echo and enduring friendships are made.
Our focus is on “wellness” which means we are asking you to come to us to feel healthier, even if you are not unwell by any normal medical standards: to feel stronger, slimmer, happier and more alert and fight the symptoms of ageing.
The Centre is registered with Fitness Australia and our experienced staff, representing all age groups and some who have been working at the Centre for more than 20 years, are fully qualified and registered. Their motto is “we love making meaningful changes in our members’ lives”.
Dear Victoria,
I wish to thank you for providing such a lovely environment in the Green Apple. I joined about six months ago and I feel comfortable, welcome and relaxed when I’m working out and attending classes. I’m one of those people who have been fighting the flab all of my life (I’m 51 years young) and have "tried everything". The worst thing has been staying motivated and I’ve found that your inviting gym and friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff have helped me stay focused. I have started losing a little weight steadily and am feeling wonderful. I am pleased to see your staff wearing badges with the length of time they’ve been with you – and very impressed with how long some of them have been here. I’ve belonged to other gyms over the years and it’s very unsettling to see the high turnover of staff.
I was diagnosed with vertigo (which was actually caused by a brain tumour) three years ago. This was very debilitating as it caused me to feel like the whole world was spinning around me. I no longer needed to go on Dreamworld rides to make me dizzy! I could not bend over without feeling woozy, so I ended up staying upright and as still as I possibly could most of the time. As you could imagine, after almost two years of being afraid to move, let alone exercise, I was a bit of a mess. I was very stiff, not very mobile and sore. Luckily for me the radiation treatment I received destroyed the tumour about a year ago (miracles do happen) and the vertigo seems to have gone along with it (touch wood). Regular exercise has made a huge difference to how I feel and my mobility! Within a fortnight of starting my programme I felt myself loosening up and becoming more agile. I can do little things like clean the shower floor and tie my shoelaces again.
I’m hoping to continue my new healthy lifestyle (which I love!) with your assistance.
Regards
Ellie Gilbert
