Hi All

Have you noticed how much sickness is around us currently. Many of you will know that Petrina has been in hospital with a problem that needed thorough investigating which gave us all a fright. Petrina is at home now so if you want to get in touch with her I know she would appreciate the contact. We have a card at Reception for anyone who wants to leave a message for Petrina. Steve is juggling children, looking after Petrina, and will be doing a small number of appointments only. If you usually have remedial massage with either Petrina or Steve, hopefully we will have them back on deck soon because they will sorely missed! In the meantime, urgent appointments will be taken by Zoe and Victoria, and Steve will make sure he has a few spots available.
Last week was a “horror week” as far as staffing went. We had several people out of action through illness and the Team on deck had to work very “smartly”. They all did a wonderful job and I thank them for being so positive and helpful.
Shirley McGregor and Lorraine Toomey — you were both omitted from our Bayside to Bald Hills thank you newsletter — sincere apologies because your help was definitely appreciated!
Brian tells me the pool temperature is 25° so we are getting closer to opening it up for swimming and exercising. If you would like to brave the outside “chill factor” and take the plunge, ask at Reception to have the pool cover taken off.
The article in this newsletter about the Power-Plate is a very interesting one. I have always strongly recommended the benefits of whole body vibration training, especially for people who are time-poor or have knee joint issues etc that prevent exercising at the optimal level. The Power-Plate definitely gives you the results you want when used systemically. You can trial the Power-Plate in a Personal Training session for $35.
The “Exercise as Cancer Survival Technique” article is confirmation of what I have always believed. Do read it

Hi All
A little birdie told me that two very important people (VIPs!) were left off our thank you list for our big Camp Quality fundraising day on Sunday July 25. Now I am wondering who else we could possibly have ignored and this really concerns me so if you know that someone helped during our Camp Quality fundraising and there was no mention of their support in the newsletter, please alert Stacey so we can fix it up!
To dear Joan Gregory and Linda Thomas — we recognise your significant support both on the day, and during the preceding days — thank you!
This week the Green Apple will have display booths at the Dickson’s Seniors Expo at Strathpine on Monday August 16 and Tuesday August 17 and the Moreton Bay Healthy and Active Ageing Expo on Thursday August 19. We would love to have your support so if you are passing by the venues — the complex where Peter Dutton has his office on August 16/17, or the Morayfield Community Hall and Leisure Centre on August 19, we would be very happy to see you!
I will be accompanied by Darrol, Cherryle and Shirley and we might need to see a friendly face or two to keep our spirits up!
Did you know we have several services here to help with your “wellness”. By early October we will have a podiatrist on board (Brian says “good — I need new orthotics!”)
Currently we have Rob from Red Hill Physiotherapy here for appointments on a Monday between 8am and 12pm and on Thursday between 7am and 11am.
Dale is our Dietitian and she is available on every second Wednesday between 12pm and 5pm and every Friday between 9am and 1pm.
Robyn is the resident Acupuncturist and is available for appointments on a Thursday between 8am and 1pm and on a Saturday between 8am and 12pm (or on special request she will see clients at different suitable times). And finally we have four Remedial Massage Therapists Victoria, Petrina, Steve and Zoe who have various availabilities, so if you are wanting an appointment please see Reception.

Hi All
Ekka week is always a puzzling one for many Green Apple members in relation to when we will observe the public holiday. Since we are officially in the Brisbane City Council area our compulsory public holiday is Wednesday. In the Pine Rivers Shire (now Moreton Bay) they “celebrate” Exhibition Day on Monday.
So we will be open all day Monday as usual, and on Wednesday we will open from 4pm till 7pm with classes at 5pm and 5.30pm. Do come and keep us company — Brian and I will be here on duty and we are happy to be working when you show us you want to come to the gym on a public holiday — by turning up!
The provisional psychologists will be offering a free Managing Pain workshop they have called “How to play the pain game”. Great opportunity to benefit from Rachel and Emma’s passion. See details in this newsletter and book in.
Petrina, Steve and Zoe will be away on holiday this week and I am taking extra appointments to accommodate anyone who really needs a treatment. Ask at Reception for more information if this concerns you.
Have you managed to get sponsorship support this year for our Camp Quality fundraising? Any donations and sponsorship money must be handed in by August 15 will be gratefully received since we are down a little this year. The actual event went wonderfully well and a small number of supporters have raised a great sum of money but the overall total amount raised is the challenge at present.
