The Weekly Bite – January 3 2018 – Issue 2258

Hi All

Manage the heat at this time of year by including Aqua classes or pool workouts into your schedule.  If you suffer from heat exhaustion easily or if you are inclined to puff up with fluid (especially in the ankles and legs) then exercising in water can help.  The combination of the compression factor of water and the muscle circulation activity within the body certainly helps mobilize fluids that are pooling in your soft tissue.  Even water walking for 15 minutes will make a big difference to how your body feels.

In January we will be having an Expression of Interest meeting for all the people whom have put their hand up for the new DVA Healthy Heart program this year.  The 2017 DVA group are a great bunch of guys who still get together twice a week to do their exercise.  (Just keep an eye out for the noisy group who are all throwing off at each other!)  Since you can only do the 12 month DVA Healthy Heart program once, we set up a special class for these blokes so they would keep on exercising together regularly.

The new DVA Heart Health group that will commence early in the New Year is open to any male or female who had previously served in the forces overseas and whom has not done DVA Healthy Heart 12month program previously.  As long as you have served overseas, it is not necessary to have a Gold or White card or even be registered with the Department of Veteran Affairs at this stage.

If you know someone who fits the eligibility criteria and might be interested in this fully funded program, let Darrol or someone on reception know.
