Hi All
I was having a chat with a long-term member this week when we she mentioned how much she appreciated the class that Charlie took on Monday morning to support anybody who needed help with their program. I said “Oh, you must mean the Coaching Class which we set up for people who are new once they’ve had their program made up one-on-one with the Exercise Physiologist, and it is also very handy for long-term members like you because when you have a new program with exercises you have never done previously, or a rehab program, you can do with extra help too”. The member then said that she hadn’t known anything about this service so I thought a reminder to you all would be wise. We have this Coaching session on Monday at 10am, Tuesday at 1pm, Thursday at 9am and Saturday at 8am, supervised by Charlie, Ben, Jesse, and Nathan and other Team members when needed.
Are you an Aqua-lover? If you are planning to attend the water classes there are a couple of things you will need to know. First, we ask you to have a sluice down in the shower near the pool steps before you go into the water, both hot and cold water are available. Second, if you go to the Changeroom or walk through the gym floor and Reception to access the street, we ask you to dry yourself thoroughly once you come out of the pool. Water on the floor within the building is a real risk factor on certain surfaces.
Now that summer is here, drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated will become increasingly important as the temperatures rise. Wiping the equipment after you use it (which is an expectation we have of all of us using the Centre) will be even more relevant during the summer months. I am so appreciative of your efforts. When I walk through the gym floor and see members diligently using the spray and paper towels it makes me happy to know you care about our environment.
Currently we planning our Courses and Workshops for 2025. This will include My Health for Life, BEAT IT for diabetics that we deliver for Diabetes Australia, the online program Arthritis Moves which we deliver for Arthritis Qld, and Warm Water Aqua which we deliver for Arthritis NSW. We have been asked to provide these courses by various organisations who have been granted government funding to deliver them to the community to help with community health. Generally, these funded organisations eligible clients within the community rather than from within Green Apple.
The My Health for Life course is one of these services which can be accessed by Green Apple members. Many of you have done the My Health for Life course and have benefitted significantly so we will be providing this again next year. The government funds this program fully so there is no charge to participate, and we are one of the businesses who have the trained staff who can deliver it. Charlie has had his qualifications for some time and Ben has just finished his training. If you want to find out more about the eligibility criteria you can find out more about this at Reception.
The Type 2 Diabetes Group Education Course is another service available to Green Apple members. Medicare will fund this if you have T2D, and if you have a referral from your doctor, and most of the medical fraternity will be very happy to see you enrolled in this course. Nathan and Ben updated and overhauled this 8 week course and are doing a great job delivering it.
Bridie will be delivering her Workshops again (Secret Women’s Business, Knee Workshop, Osteoporosis and Sarcopaenia ie Bone Loss and Muscle wasting) and if you attend any of these you will be in for a treat!
Lots to look forward to in the New Year and it will come around before we know it, hence the planning!
Cheers
