The Weekly Bite -Monday 14 October, 2024 Issue 2588

Hi All

We had a great turnout on King’s birthday Monday, October 7. Thank you to all of you who came in to keep Brian and me company. The camaraderie was wonderful, and it made it thoroughly worthwhile opening the Green Apple. It also gave me the chance to catch up with a few people I don’t usually see.

Brian was happy to see a few more enthusiastic faces in his Step class at 6 am. If you enjoyed his sense of rhythm and sense of humour then come again one Monday at 6am and join his fun group. Brian also takes a Stretch class at 6 am on Wednesday mornings and a Barbell class on Wednesday afternoons at 5 pm. He tells me he is there for the “fun and games” with his participants and tries to keep the classes manageable yet challenging, as well as light-hearted and amusing. He tells me his goal is to give his people “Step for cardio, Barbell for strength and Stretch class for mobility and pliability”. In chatting with some of Brian’s participants they seem to agree wholeheartedly. And for some reason they enjoy his whacky sense of humour!

John has been working around the pool on the paving to even up any areas that could be a hazard as well as prepping the pool itself prior to our Aqua season. The wind has been so ferocious lately that we hadn’t realised how many leaves had got in under the pool cover in the last few days, so those of you who came a couple of Sundays ago to have a swim you would’ve had some of those leaves in with you. Apologies for this and John is right on it. The water is always kept very clean, and John does a great job maintaining this high standard throughout Summer.

Nessa and I had a lovely time at the Albany Creek Probus talk. Green Apple members, Arthur and Maureen Mosley, extended us a great welcome there and the members attending on the day were wonderful listeners. I was so busy talking to people on my arrival when they were having their morning tea break that I didn’t have any of the delicious-looking chocolate cake which everyone was being encouraged to try. At the end of my talk one of the members came up with a little, paper napkin wrapped, item which enclosed a yummy slice of the treat I thought I had missed out on. Very thoughtful and I loved it!

Keep up your great attendance. It makes such a difference to our daily life when we are stronger, fitter, and more mobile.

Cheers
