The Weekly Bite – Monday 18 November, 2024 —Issue 2593

Hi All

Many of you will have met my sister Hilary, who visited us earlier this year. Hilary lives in Munich, and she came out in our summer and managed the heat tremendously well. She loved staying with us and going over into the Green Apple to do her exercise and loved going over to AHOY for her morning coffee. In fact, she grew to love the Australian coffee so much that she would buy anything up to 3 cups of coffee a day from different places just to experience different flavours. Hilary plans to come back next year during our warm months to get away from the snow and cold in Europe.

Every week, on a Saturday afternoon, Hilary and I walk together. Over the next few months, Hilary will go out at 7.30am, in the dark, rugged up in multiple layers, sometimes trudging through snow, and I will go out in the heat of summer at 4:30 pm. We walk and talk for an hour or so about the things we are doing in our lives on our different sides of the world and sharing memories of childhood occasionally. Sometimes we talk about how we feel about what’s going on in the world, and one day we talked about quinces. I had listened to a podcast on ABC Conversations about a chef who made wonderful concoctions with quinces and Hilary said, “Have I sent you story on MY quince experiences” and when I said no, she said that she would send it to me. I liked it so much that I have shared it with you, and you can read it in two parts, the first one in this week’s newsletter and then in the following newsletter next week.

Toni will be going on holidays fairly soon so that if you hoping to have a remedial massage with her before Christmas, or for Christmas, then book in for an appointment now.

Ben and Nathan will also be going away fairly shortly, and they are trying to catch up with anyone they need to before they go. Bridie will be working extra hours during December to help Charlie while Ben and Nathan are away so if you are hoping to see Bridie before Christmas, this will be a wonderful opportunity. Just enquire at Reception about the times that Bridie will be here.

There may be one or two disruptions to activities from November 25, but they are minor, and I think we will all cope with them. It’s just that time of year, isn’t it?

Cheers
