Hi All
I am hoping that you will be able to support Exercise Physiologist and wonderful team member, Charlie, in his fundraising for the homeless. When you read details of Charlie’s plans on the back page of the newsletter this week and understand what he will be doing to support this cause, it will give you more information about what you would be supporting.
Charlie says: “I decided to complete this challenge because I believe that there is a lot of growth behind doing something uncomfortable. Exercise is the perfect example of this. We place our body through discomfort and progressively overload it with more discomfort and our muscles begin to respond to this and end up growing. This is especially true if it’s done correctly. Something else happens when we place ourselves through discomfort. There is evidence that a region of the brain, the anterior mid cingulate cortex develops with this practice. This area is seen as being responsible for tenacity. This becomes important as it requires tenacity to continue doing something you find uncomfortable. If we see this area of our brain as a muscle and train it in the same way it is assumed that there can be a lot of growth with our “tenacity”. So that is why I have decided to train my tenacity.”
One of the ways you can contribute any donation you are prepared to offer will be using the online method and Charlie has provided the link to this. If you are unfamiliar with this process and you would like to offer a cash donation to Charlie, put your donation into an envelope with your name, Charlie’s name on it and the amount you are donating, he will be able to enter it online for you and then send the receipt to your email address to provide evidence that you have donated this amount. Charlie is happy with this plan so I will be gifting my donation in this way.
Now that Aqua has started, we will need to be very mindful of the pool water being carried into the main buildings. If you plan to walk through to Reception to go out into the street or go up to the ladies change room to shower and change, it will be very important to dry yourself as much as possible before entering the gym areas. Water on the floor, especially in the change room and shower area will cause the floor to be slippery and a fall hazard.
Please help keep us all safe from falls!
Cheers
