Hi All
It is great to see that there has been such a good response already to the Green Apple Christmas lunch. We already have 33 people put their names down out of the possible 50 bookings that we are eligible to make, and 28 of you have already paid your booking fee! Well done! It is going to be FUN and will give us a chance to mingle socially with other Green Apples who have a common goal to be responsible and accountable for their body and their vitality.
Did you know that if you are more than 50 years old, and you attend Green Apple regularly, you are in the top 10 percentile of the population in relation to being personally responsible for your health as you age, or in response to a medical condition. There is still a strong tendency to rely solely on medical solutions for many conditions which will benefit significantly from prescribed physical activity. As someone who was born into a long line of medical practitioners, from both grandfathers to father, uncles, brothers, I value and understand the importance of our medical fraternity.
My journey has been to help people who want to help themselves in conjunction with best medical practice. It is our efforts to do our body-housekeeping which help doctors best manage our problems. And it is not always easy is it? We have to create the habits, the rituals, to stick with this body-housekeeping. In fact, as I often say to new members, many people live in their bodies and know very little about them. Another belief I have is that most people look after their cars, their houses, and other possessions far better than their bodies. So, I say to all my fellow 10 percenters, it is not always easy is it but it is so worthwhile!
In relation to the Christmas lunch, I think the idea of a token booking fee so we can order and pay for our own meals on the day is a very sensible option. It will enable us to choose what we want to eat, and also decide how much we want to eat.
Since Christmas can be a time of celebrating for an extended time ie weeks of festive foods and drinks, all those extra calories buildup to an impressive amount of energy which is usually stored on the body as body fat until we can use it somehow.
Check out the Reception noticeboard. The Christmas Lunch will be held at the Pine Rivers Bowls Club on November 24. We have space for another 15 of us!
Cheers
