The Weekly Bite – February 23 2018 – Issue 2265

Hi All

Many of you will remember that this is the time of year that we use CPI to amend our direct debit fees.  You will see this on your statement for the payment deducted on March 1.  As usual it will only be a very small weekly increase however it does help us keep Green Apple operational.  In the last year our electricity and water has really shot up, as yours has probably!  Every help you give me to ensure we are sustainable is very much appreciated.

Wonderful news – the “Lest We Forget” hall in Bald Hills has been restored by some very dedicated people and will have an official opening that you are invited to.  One of these special people is member, Paul Lucas.

Paul writes;

Hi Victoria

You may be aware that the newly refurbished Bald Hills Memorial Hall is now back up and running after a lengthy break following the fire in November 2015.

In line with all of the work being completed and that we are now up and running, we are holding a morning tea between 10 am and Noon on Saturday 3 March 2018 at the hall.

It will be open for all of the community to attend to have a look at the hall and there will be an official reopening at 11 am with a couple of speeches.

We will have a sausage sizzle and the usual morning tea items available at no charge.

Would you be able to place a small note in your newsletter advertising the Morning Tea for Saturday 3 March at 10 am to Noon?   All are welcome.

We welcome new Team Member, Bethany Wright.  Bethany has been employed as a school based trainee, studying her Cert III in Fitness as well as doing her OP Course for Grade 11 and 12.  Bethany attends St John Fisher and will be with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-8pm as paid staff.  One of the projects I want to involve Bethany in our Junior Gym Class so if you have children 11-14 years interested in attending a special group 4pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, let me know.

Team work at Green Apple is very important.  We all have our skills individually however it is the way we all work together that makes the outcomes we strive towards so much more achievable.  I often have to explain the make-up of our Team because we are all seen as “people who work together at Green Apple” rather than our individual skills or knowledge base.  I like it like that.  There are times that you do need to know who does what, to what level, in order to get the right help.  Do you know who the Exercise Physiologists are?  These four-year university trained full-time staff members can provide medical rebates on the services they provide, and whom are only booked for appointments that require a fee.  It is the Exercise Physiologists whom do the DVA funded appointments and the doctor’s EPC referral appointments.  They also do private consultations using your private health fund rebates as part payment.

We have three Accredited Exercise Physiologists.  Did you guess correctly? (answer on page 2)
