Hi All
Shirley McGregor and all the Green Apple Social Committee have been busy organising more exciting events for you. This week the Mayne Inheritance trip with John Donaldson from PersonallyYours Tours will leave the Green Apple on Wednesday at 9am so if you are booked on this adventure don’t miss the bus!

This year, the Christmas Party will have a totally different flavour. Firstly, we have a change of venue and, secondly, it is a luncheon which will enable those who do not drive at night to attend. In addition, the entertainment we feel will be more suitable for the age demographics of the Green Apple which has changed over the years. Pinky Productions, two delightful ladies, will entertain us with easy to listen to music, a blast from the past with many favourites you will know, a selection of Christmas carols and some cabaret. For those who feel inspired, there will be the opportunity to dance.
We would love to see our numbers swell and can cater for up to 100. I do hope you can join us for a wonderful Christmas celebration. All of our social activities provide the opportunity to make new friendships or foster old ones, something that is very important in the latter years and is part of the Green Apple culture.
The Christmas party will be held Saturday 25th November 11.30am – 3.30pm Tavernetta – 144 Dorville Road Carseldine
Steph, one of our Remedial Massage Therapists has some news to share with you all. Steph writes:
Hello Green Apples 🙂
For those of you who don’t know, my husband Mike and I are expecting our first baby at the end of January. This is very exciting for us, but unfortunately, has put a timeline on me being able to move around a massage table! I have made the tough decision to stop taking appointments for remedial massage as of November 1. I feel quite sad about this because working with my clients to improve their lives is a very important and fulfilling part of my life. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has allowed me to work with them to (hopefully!) improve their lives in whatever way I can. I find that, not only is remedial massage a great tool for decreasing pain, increasing mobility and various other physical benefits, but it also a great way to learn about your body and I really love being able to help people understand what is happening in their body so that they know themselves more and are able to take care of themselves better because of this.
I encourage everyone to see Victoria or Margy while I am on maternity leave and don’t leave your slight aches and pains until its too late!
Speaking about understanding your body better so you are able to take care of yourself better, I will be focussing on this theme in my Body Awareness and Relaxation Wellness Workshop commencing November 18 at 11am. If you attended the recent Wellness Day and enjoyed the content and ambience, you will feel very at home with my sessions. If you were not able to come along to the Wellness Day then this is your opportunity to find out more about how your body and brain works together. The cost to attend these three sessions with me is only $33 and the value of the information will be priceless.
I will still be at the Green Apple, doing admin tasks, taking my Body Awareness and Relaxation Wellness Workshop and my other marketing work until the end of the year. I hope to be back massaging mid 2018.
Do you know about Bridie’s YouCan program? Did you see the Catalyst program that showcased the amazing program in Perth being used actually in a hospital setting with patients going through chemo and radiation treatment? Bridie’s YouCan program is based on this fantastic research program. We are so keen to get this off the ground because we know how important it is for people whom have cancer to be doing appropriate physical activity. We know the benefits of exercise on the body when it is busy fighting off threats to health, even major threats like cancer. YouCan will be run as a 4 week pilot in Green Apple commencing November 15, so if you know anyone who would truly benefit from this, please let Victoria know and she will follow through with you personally
What a truly memorable experience you have gifted me over the past few weeks. I can’t thank you enough for your wonderful messages through cards, letters and verbal sharing of your thoughts, your thoughtful gifts (overwhelming gifts more like!) and thank you to all for attending my birthday party on October 7, which was organised by Petrina, helped by Nessa, and then supported by my Green Apple Team, family, social committee, volunteers AND also the many messages from those of you unable to attend and who wanted to be there.
To those of you whom decided to gift a donation towards my “group” present, what you are going to be gifting me will keep reminding me of my wonderful 70th year and birthday ALL YEAR! I am going to receive flowers every month during the next year. I can’t believe how generous you have been and I thank you all so much!!

LORD MAYOR’S SENIOR’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
The logistics of making large bookings for this event has become very difficult and, as a result, the Social Committee have decided to exclude it from our social activities this year. However, for those of you who love this event, gather a few friends together and book a table and go along for a very special and professional concert and high tea at a cost of $5.00 per person. The dates this year are from Monday 4th December to Friday 8th with two performances daily at 9.15am and 12.15pm. Tickets can be purchased from QTix either online or by phone on 136246. The maximum number that can be booked is a full table of 10, however you can just book individual seats. If this is an event you want to attend, I suggest you book ASAP as tickets sell out very quickly.
DONT FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE LAST MALTRON TESTING OF THE YEAR!
