Hello to all Green Apples
On Tuesday, March 24, at exactly 6:39 am, Matt Hepworth from ABC 612 delivered a live interview with me and member, Paul Lucas. Matt’s senior producer, Holly, had instigated the visit and Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan spoke at the end of the interview about how great they thought having somewhere to attend which focused of getting people moving without overdoing it sounded excellent.
Matt came to Green Apple to meet some of our Earlybird’s, ie members who come regularly around the 5.30am mark. A little group of us including Reevesie, Joan Gregory, Pam Keir, Paul Lucas, Matt Hepworth and I snuggled up at one of our compact tables in the courtyard.
Matt asked me questions about what Green Apple was all about, and Paul then spoke so well, emphasising the role social connections play and how important our Green Apple community is to so many people.
If you would like to listen to what Paul had to say, use the ABC Listen App, go to “Brisbane Breakfast” and find Tuesday March 24. Then scroll to 6.39am and you will hear the song being played before the interview.
What is VALD? The Vald Open Day
The VALD assessment uses advanced technology to provide precise insights into an individual’s physical performance, including strength, power, movement quality, balance, stability and mobility. It combines objective measurement tools with traditional muscle testing to identify weaknesses, asymmetries and potential injury risk factors, allowing for data-driven decisions in training, rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
Last Tuesday’s talk and demonstration presented by two of our experienced Exercise Physiologists, Charlie and Brayden, was a tremendous success.
With approximately 34 members and associate members in attendance, we divided into two groups to ensure everyone could fully participate. One group enjoyed a physical demonstration led by Charlie, while the other attended an informative video presentation presented by Brayden. The groups then alternated so all attendees experienced both sessions.
The morning concluded with a delicious morning tea, generously provided by our wonderful “scone and slice queen,” Shirley — a perfect way to round off a very informative session.
Any member can have the VALD testing included in their “new program” appointment with their exercise physiologist, or as a stand-alone assessment for a specific condition, or for a pre- and post-surgery testing. There is no additional fee for this service apart from the usual fee you pay to access one-on-one time with the exercise physiologist.
If you want the testing to help with your exercise prescription, you will need a 60-minute appointment so the exercise physiologist will have time to do both the testing as well as prescribe exercises based on the results.
You can have a 30-minute-only appointment if you are having the testing for a specific purpose eg before or after surgery (and your surgeon will be able to see the results you have had from the procedure).
Cheers
