Hi All
It’s been lovely to see the interest in the Aqua classes recently. We are now into June and half the year has disappeared! The members attending the water activities tell me they are appreciative of being able to do Aqua into winter. And I am happy that we are able to continue to use the water for rehabbing knees and hips and shoulders. The buoyancy of the water enables people who have undergone surgery to achieve a much faster recovery when they combine prescribed water exercise (the buoyancy of water encourages an increased joint range of movement) with a tailored appropriate gym program. I am not a “water-person” yet I did go into the pool after my bilateral knee surgery, shoulder surgery and spinal fusion to complement my on-land exercise. The combination was fantastic.
We have finally received an installation date for our replacement Waterproof Shade Sails which were damaged in cyclone Alfred. There had been problems with the glue setting sufficiently, something to do with weather conditions.
The big sail and two smaller side sails will be installed on Friday, June 6th, and the workmen will be onsite from 7:30am until approximately 12:30 midday. I am hoping there will be as little disruption to our normal business activities as possible. We chose this day because it is the only day that we have no aquarobics and the Centre can be a little less busy than earlier in the week.
One of the most important things within Green Apple which I protect strongly is our culture and philosophies. It is the base of everything that we do and provide within the Centre and encompasses our choice of team members to look after you, our delivery of services, our expected behaviours, our health and safety levels and, above all else, our endeavour to make Green Apple a safe, friendly, comfortable environment for you, a social home-away-from-home for many, a place to get away from “devices”.
Outside in the wider community there are so many stressful environments, and personal standards that we just have to tolerate because the world is changing constantly, not always for the better perhaps.
Having explained this, one particular “behaviour” I wish to address within Green Apple is the inappropriate use of mobile phones. I have had complaints about loud conversations on speaker phone being conducted within the exercise areas, and even long typed messages being sent while sitting for extended times in equipment. Please, can we protect our environment and save our phone relationships for before or after our workout. Afterall we are a “Wellness Centre” not a gym, aren’t we?
Cheers
