The Weekly Bite – Monday 23rd June, 2025—Issue 2622

Hi All

It is so good to see so many of you hanging in there with your exercise despite the plunge in temperatures recently. All of us who work at Green Apple want to see you get the most out of your membership here, and to support you in your journey. The mantra we all work under is “our goal is to help you help yourself”. We can’t do it for you but we can provide the right exercises and the services and the activities which make it easier and appropriate for what will get you results.

One activity is Tai Chi which we have on Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening. Participating in this type of exercise teaches you the power of breath control and how you can apply the principles of mindful breathing and movement into your other activities of daily life.

Mat Pilates and the Pilates Reformer is taking the world by storm currently. Pilates has been around for decades now however there has been a huge resurgence. A member I was chatting with recently tells me that the number of Pilates Studios setting up in her area is astounding.

You have access to this activity in-house at Green Apple, the Mat classes costing you no extra to attend, and the expert Pilates Reformer coaching available one-on one or in a very small group of three for very reasonable fees.

Studios outside Green Apple may ask you to pay $35 to participate in a much larger group class where the instructor needs to cope with multiple clients with varying needs.

The pool is now providing a wonderful Winter opportunity which we have not been able to utilise in the past 45 years Green Apple has been in existence.

Now in 2025, our warm water Aqua has been embraced by our member water-babies!!

We are doing everything we can to keep the pool at a tempting temperature. This morning (Thursday June 19 at 5am) the pool was 34.1 degrees.

If you suffer from more pain from arthritis during the Winter months, seriously consider attending the 10am Learn to Aqua class with Josie, on Wednesdays at 10am. This class differs from the other Green Apple Aqua classes and it is a great introduction to the benefits of warm water exercise. And, as a full Club Member, you will pay no extra fee to participate.

Having so many services and activities available to you might be confusing if you don’t have someone to discuss your needs in relation to what would be good for you to do. Usually your appointment times are all to do with your personal programming and this is so specific to you that there is little time to address other Green Apple activities you would benefit from. Booking a half hour paid appointment with your exercise physiologist or a paid session with a personal trainer like Katrina Bethell, Wanda or Jesse, is a wise move. They can explain the benefits of things like the PowerPlate, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, warm water exercise, soft tissue release (under the title “Massage”), dietary advice with qualified Dietitians which is especially pertinent as we age, 1-on-1 training in the specialised Green Apple equipment and tweaking your body into shape, Maltron Body Analysis, Bridie’s workshops, etc.

You have so many choices available to you and some will require an additional fee but the beauty of it is that you don’t need to spread your time over multiple venues, you have it all ready to use under one roof! Use it or lose it!

Cheers
