Hi All
Our recent open day for the Pilates Reformer Studio was well attended and generated much interest. Thank you to all the Green Apple team members who made a big effort to show you the benefits of doing this type of exercise, and the cuppa and “nibbles “after the event.
I’d like to thank the people who brought up the affordability of accessing the service because it has given me the opportunity to share some things about Green Apple that you may not be familiar with.
The primary reason I founded Green Apple more than 45 years ago is because I wanted to do something about helping people help themselves. I have always appreciated what exercise could do for me and how my life benefited from it. It has become more and more of a passion over the years and the people I choose to have working with me have needed to embrace the concept because it is hard work helping people help themselves.
If we were “selling” holidays or cruises it would be plain sailing but when it comes to exercise and well-being, people want the benefits however the commitment to exercise and having to pay for the privilege is challenging for many. That also makes it a very challenging field of work to be working in and also very rewarding when we are successful.
To be able to achieve our goal of helping as many people as we can to take on the challenge of
- improving themselves and their health,
- adhering and complying to their exercise and developing discipline and good habits,
- taking ownership of their body (instead of just living inside it without accountability of how it is functioning) we have to have the right tools to work with, multiple resources for people to access, and we have to be switched on constantly to people’s individual needs and really care about what we are doing with them.
When people enrol in a Green Apple Member ship, the core services that are provided are
- An individual program specifically designed for them either via the allied health service with an exercise physiologist, or via the PT pathway with an exercise professional
- A wide range of equipment and resources to access in the gym, often not found in any other venues
- Pool access all year round for water exercise
- Group classes, both in the gym and in the group class area, and in the pool
- Access to Medicare and private health funding to help support the medically prescribed exercise.
Additional services have been created to provide people further help and these need to be paid for over and above our fixed expenses like rates, electricity, water, admin, cleaning, building and equipment maintenance and variable expenses like payroll, replacement purchases, new items etc. Over the years I have invested in certain things that I really believe in and these include:
- The Power-Plate
- Clinical Massage
- Dietitians
- Pilates Reformer Studio
- All year-round Pool programs (our latest venture)
and they all have costs and staff training and expenditure not covered by our membership service.
I know many of you would love to be involved in some of these “extras” and feel that having to pay more may not be an option for you. I do understand this. I also still want to be able to offer anything I feel aligns with my desire to “Help others help themselves” so I will continue to introduce you to worthwhile opportunities under one roof.
Cheers,
