Hi All
You will see in this newsletter a farewell letter from Team member Nessa to you all under the heading “Leaving with a Full Heart”.
Yes, Nessa has been here with us for the last 15 years in many different capacities and is now ready to explore other things that she might like to do.
In the early days, Nessa was one of the Team members in the children’s room at Green Apple. We used to open our in-house childcare for members from 9 am to 12 pm noon Monday to Friday and we had a wonderful team of volunteers who supported the employed staff in that room. In those days we had a lot of mums staying at home to look after their young children and Nessa had young ones and became one of the great volunteer brigade.
From childcare at Green Apple Nessa then became part of our Reception team and, in that role, created supportive friendships with so many Green Apple members, relationships that still live on today.
Nessa played a big part in our fund-raising efforts, especially in the years we raised money for Camp Quality. Many of you will remember the big walk-run we organised annually “Bald Hills to Bayside”, 30km event. In the early days it was Petrina, our daughter and her then partner, Darren Mac, who did an amazing job in helping make the event so successful. Nessa joined in the effort when she came onboard and, over several years, we raised approximately $200,000 which was a lot of money in those days.
Nessa “grew” her job over the years to managing so much of our promotional resources, visiting doctors to keep them up to date about Green Apple services, even chosen to deliver the Reception training for Suzie (an exercise physiologist who worked at Green Apple for a short stint) as well as our current team members Kristen and Louise.
Nessa has recently been setting up and publishing our “email” newsletter. This comes out monthly and is created separately from our weekly inhouse newsletter, and Nessa has been adding her entrepreneurial touches to each edition.
So, Nessa has many strings to her violin which she can call on during the journey ahead of her. Nessa will be with us this week and is compiling her work journal which will provide guidance for the person who takes over her responsibilities. Darrol did this when he “retired” and it shows the true calibre of our Team members. They all contribute so much to what we bring to the community. They show how much they value the time spent with us all and want to make sure that they leave a legacy behind by ensuring the best possible transition.
I appreciate this incredible dedication to duty from Nessa.
Cheers,
